A Coffee Lover's Guide to the 7 Coolest Reusable Cups

In search of: The cutest reusable coffee cup.

Although the TikTok girlies would have us eat at least an hour before we even think about caffeine, I'm usually guilty of sleeping through my alarm and having to run out the door to get to work.

What do I do next to help distract me from the imminent dread that fills me at the thought of having to work the next 9 hours? Grab a takeaway coffee, of course.

But a little while ago, I realised that 3-4 takeaway coffee cups a week generates quite a bit of waste in the long run. Enter the heroes of the coffee game: reusable coffee cups, also known as travel mugs.

Today, I'm sharing my top 7 coffee cups that I've found along the way that'll have all your local baristas and coworkers falling over themselves to compliment you (not really but it feels like it x).

1. Carter Wide Mug from Fellow

Since I'm not supposed to pick favourites, let's just say that if I was a 45 year old Cali mom and a proud Range Rover owner, the Carter Wide Mug would be my high achieving eldest daughter that does cheerleading, tennis, and theatre (in a cool way).

Carter is sleek and stylish, comes in 2 fantastically large sizes - 355ml and 473ml, and keeps your drinks at the same temperature for almost too long - if you think your coffee's cooled down, think again before you take a sip!

The only 2 downsides are:

  • It's more a Thermos than a cup, so it's a bit hard to sip when you're on the go

  • It's slightly too wide for most car cup holders. However, use the Bunnings PVC pipe hack and you're good to go.

2. Brew Longplay from Keepcup

This one is a classic and I believe every coffee aficionado should have at least one Keepcup in their collection. The Longplay has a makeshift double wall with a plastic sleeve that goes on top of the glass cup, which helps insulate it and protect your hands from the temperature (whether your drink is scalding or icy!).

Keepcup have way too many options than is healthy for a shopping addict like me, so if this one's not your vibe, you're still spoiled for choice.

3. Series 2 Coffee Cup from Chilly's

Chilly's was unknown to me, but no longer, and now I yearn to add a 6th cup to my own collection. Look at the colour! The shape! The Series 2 Coffee Cup features:

  • A rotating lock mechanism on the lid

  • Double walls

  • Customisable lid, head, and body colours - could be a mix and match or a monochrome moment

  • Soft rubber base so it's quiet when you put the cup down (they're so real for this, nothing more humbling than the obnoxiously loud clang of a metal cup on a counter)

  • 2 sizes - 340ml or 500ml

The only thing to note is it is quite a bit pricier compared to the other cups on the list.

4. Nomad Bottle from Nespresso

A special feature, you've probably seen the Nomad Bottle all over TikTok - and for good reason. Although it slightly resembles an oversized sippy cup, how can I be mad about that when I do sometimes feel like a child sipping my little iced coffee through my straw?

The Nomad Bottle was created specifically for iced coffee, so unfortunately she is not a 2 for 1 like the other cups. However, the built in straw and handle means that she can also double up as a smaller water bottle. This could come in handy if you're like me and you definitely don't drink enough water (and are not about to start now), or if you need to take a smaller bag with you.

5. 12oz (354mL) Mug with Closable Lid from Hydroflask

This list would not be complete without an honest, proper mug. So here she is!

There are a few brands that do a mug style coffee cup, including Yeti and Stanley, and I imagine they're all great. This Hydroflask Mug has a closeable lid, the same Hydroflask insulation we know and love, is a large-enough size (354ml), and comes in cute colours.

It definitely gives camping vibes, so if you want to make people think you're far better than them and spend time outside, this could be a superior pick.

6. Terrazzo Ceramic Mug from Porter

If you want to wow - get the Terrazo Ceramic Mug. You're welcome!

Not but seriously, I think this is one of the most unique cups I've seen so far. The ceramic base is covered in silicone studded with colourful bits (unsure if these are plastic) in a 'terrazzo' effect. Might sound like a sensory nightmare but I promise it's not.

I was on a girls' trip to Wanaka once and stumbled across this in a gift shop and caved. I can now attest that on certain days, I have gotten more compliments on this mug than my outfits. My only problem is that the ceramic is too heat-conducive and the silicone isn't thick enough to fully protect your hand from the heat, but oh well, beauty is pain.

7. Original Reusable Cup from Frank Green

The AU/NZ gals could scent this from a mile away, so it would be really rude of me not to include her in the line up.

One of the best things about this Frank Green cup is probably how customisable it is - you can pick out individual colours for the button, push button lid, and base. An all white or navy look is obviously classy, but how cute would a bright cup be for summer!

It can be used for both hot and cold drinks (win!) and has a push button lid so it's not always open. I've heard that although cleaning it can seem a bit admin, a simple bottle/straw brush makes it a breeze.

Those are my 7 finalists for the coolest, most stylish reusable coffee cups. I know I go a bit weak in the knees for a cute and functional travel mug that matches my particular vibe but I have trouble finding recommendations, so I hope this helps someone on their search!

Let me know what you're on the search journey for next.

Disclaimer: None of us absolutely need 5 different travel mugs (unless it's the only thing keeping you going each week day), and the most sustainable way to go is to pick one and love it till the end of its days. This is simply my opinion on some of the cooler mugs out there in case you're in the market now or in the future!
